Bill & Ardis Evans Scholarship
Perpetual scholarship established by retired Ottumwa educators Bill & Ardis Evans to recognize the achievement of students who have attended Ottumwa elementary schools. Each year, one 6th grade male and one 6th grade female student is selected to receive the first $1,000 award. Each recipient is then required to meet eligibility criteria each year to maintain his/her scholarship award until high school graduation. A maximum scholarship award of $7,000 can accrue to the selected recipient by the time of his/her high school graduation.

Boyenga Theater Scholarship
Annual award established by Indian Hills’ faculty member Dr. Jennifer Boyenga to assist students attending Indian Hills Community College. • Must be enrolled full-time, must be a student who has been involved with at least one Indian Hills’ theater production, and must have plans on majoring in some aspect of the theatrical arts

Bright Scholarship
Annual award established by the late H. Dale & Lois Bright awarded to current seniors attending Iowa high schools. After being initially approved by the Indian Hills Scholarship committee, students who meet the criteria will be asked to submit an essay identifying their commitment to learning and community service and describe how they have succeeded in the face of adversity. They will also be asked to submit a summary of their activities and organization, leadership roles, academic achievement and honors, community service and volunteerism, and potentials in their chosen career and employment (no more than 2 typewritten pages) • Recipients must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement (be in the top 10% of their high school graduating class or have an ACT score of 28 or higher or a high school cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher) • Must qualify for PELL or have an EFC of less than $10,000 • Maintain full-time enrollment. Preference but not limited to students who are first-generation college students.

Each year at the annual Fall Staff Workshop, employees are asked to contribute to the employee giving campaign. Approximately 50 percent of the donations received is designated to fund specific annual scholarships set up by staff members. In order to set up this type of annual scholarship, staff members must give a minimum of $600. Louise found herself a widow in 1940 living in Ottumwa with twin 4 year olds and a two year old. She had very limited resources and took a job working in the office of John Morrell & Co. She raised those three boys by herself but provided the love, care, guidance and positive attitude in raising them. All three boys became college graduates obtaining success in their chosen careers.

President's Academy Scholarship
Indian Hills Community College invites high school seniors living and attending high school in the Indian Hills 10-county service region (Appanoose, Davis, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lucas, Mahaska, Monroe, Van Buren, Wapello and Wayne counties) to apply for entry into the President’s Academy for the 2021-2022 academic year. The President’s Academy will include one student from each of the nineteen school districts in the Indian Hills region. Interested students should be high school seniors pursuing an Associate of Art or Associate of Science degree or are currently undecided in their choice of majors. Students selected for the President’s Academy will receive a full-tuition scholarship to attend Indian Hills Community College.
